A Home Run Derby – A very Merry Christmas for everyone especially for one special young woman living with epilepsy in Durham Region
During December 27th - 31st, Kyle Bryan (Whitby, ON, Sinclair Secondary School) will proudly represent Canada in the prestigious 11th Annual Home Run Derby World Power Showcase being held in Miami at Marlins Park. This event features the most prolific amateur players from around the world and provides the perfect centre-stage opportunity to demonstrate their skill-sets in front of baseball’s top evaluators during a live world broadcast.
Each participant is given an opportunity to showcase a cause close to their hearts. Kyle’s little sister Shaun lives with Epilepsy. “I’ve watched Shaun struggle with this life altering disease, I’ve seen the fear in my parent’s eyes each time a catastrophic seizure presents its mean and ugly head. I’m on a quest to break the silence, end the stigma and to ensure that people living with Epilepsy like my little sister never feel alone”.
“Epilepsy Durham Region is a local community agency which offers a variety of programs and services to ensure that a quick and timely diagnosis is made, where families feel safe and where you are never alone with this often heart-rending disease” says Executive Director Dianne McKenzie. We are honoured that Kyle and his family have chosen to support Epilepsy Durham Region, Kyle’s goal is to raise not only awareness, but $1000.00 to help support the programming offered by Epilepsy Durham Region. You can help Kyle reach his goal by making a onetime donation online to at http://bit.ly/2fpApw4 or by making a pledge for each home run he hits.
“Epilepsy Durham Region depends on generous donations from community members just like you. Their programs and services are possible only because of the kindness of others. “I hope you can help me help other kids like my sister Shaun by making a donation today” asks Kyle.
