Great Skate for Epilepsy

Skate into Epilepsy Awareness Month with Epilepsy Durham Region AND Epilepsy York Region

Our two Community Epilepsy Agencies are so excited to broaden our reach and join together as we celebrate March Awareness this year at our First Annual Great Skate for Epilepsy!

On Saturday, March 1st, 2025, our communities will enjoy a morning of skating at the Memorial Park Skating Trail in Stouffville. This fun-filled time of community, advocacy, awareness, and education is a great opportunity to share in your support for all who are navigating through their epilepsy journey. Not an ice skater? Not a problem! We will also be hosting a line-up of March Awareness activities at the Epilepsy York Region Resource Centre with raffle prizes, giveaways, and treats.

Are you looking to skate away the stigma and help us to make a difference in the lives of so many individuals, families, and caregivers? Come and join us in kicking off a month of awareness, belonging, and celebrating all the wonderful things that make us individuals beyond the seizure. Become a TEAM CAPTAIN, JOIN a team, or SUPPORT a team with a financial gift below.

This event is an opportunity to foster awareness, it is a beacon of hope for those living with epilepsy, and is a testament to community spirit and unwavering dedication to make a difference. Through this fun display of teamwork, we aim to freeze the stigmas, spark conversation, and ignite change.

Join us as we skate in harmony, gliding together for a world free from the constraints of epilepsy!

All proceeds will support both Epilepsy Durham Region and Epilepsy York Region to develop and facilitate programming that focuses on mental health, social needs, education, and to support individuals and their families to live well while living with epilepsy.

Please Note – All registration and donations will be processed by Epilepsy York Region. All event proceeds will be shared equally between Epilepsy York Region and Epilepsy Durham Region.

GLIDE TOWARDS A MORE INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY

Did you know that this is not the first time that Epilepsy Durham Region and Epilepsy York Region have partnered? Our Community Epilepsy Agencies have joined forces with our support groups and social groups to provide a broader reach for the individuals and families in our communities that are seeking connection! This event exemplifies our collective efforts to create a stronger, unified front in raising awareness and providing critical resources in our communities to those navigating the challenges of epilepsy.
