Michelle Michelle is a stained glass artist who struggles with Epilepsy. She describes experiencing an endless battle to find a balance in her life with seizures but she finds solace in the act of creating, as expressing herself through her art helps through the times where she cannot use words. Michelle is excited to share her journey with the community. | Heather Heather is a parent that has been blessed with 3 beautiful and loving children, who are everything to her. Heather’s middle child, Kaydance, was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was 3.5 years old and has suffered from multiple seizure types. Together they have been on this journey, some days completely lost not knowing what way to turn, with many ups and downs, and lot’s of tears and worry through the years. Heather and her family have found some of the greatest strength and knowledge on how to deal with the complexities of Kaydance’s seizures through Epilepsy Durham Region and the programs they offer. Heather feels forever will be grateful for such an amazing organization, and is honoured to speak at this year’s Epilepsy Community Connect segment. | Aydin Aydin is a 16 year old from Durham Region who was diagnosed with a complex form of Epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome at age 12. Aydin began having seizures at age 2, and has since struggled with the reality of 100 daily seizures, 10 different medications, and being a high risk for SUDEP. However, Aydin finds strength in advocacy and has made it his mission to share his journey and help others living with epilepsy. |
